Raul uses bitcoin to support his family in Mexico
Raul was born in Monterrey, Mexico. He works as a doctor in Los Angeles but still has strong connections with his extended family in Mexico.
“My family loves the flexibility of receiving bitcoin. They don't have to worry about bank fees, opening hours, or even having a bank account at all. With bitcoin, they're connected to a whole new world of possibilities.”
“I use bitcoin to support my family and to send them gifts”
Imagine living far from your family, in a totally different country. That's the story of Raul, a doctor in Los Angeles, originally from Monterrey, Mexico. Even though he's miles away, he's found a modern way to keep his connection strong. Raul uses bitcoin to send love back home, whether it's for a birthday surprise or to help out with school fees.
“I’ve lived in the United States for many years but I still have family in Mexico. Bitcoin is a great way to send them gifts or support their education,” he explained. “Every time I send them bitcoin, it feels like I’m there in person, supporting them.”
Raul uses a simple bitcoin wallet appGo to /wallets page on his smartphone to manage and send bitcoin. “It's as easy as sending a text message, but instead of emojis, I’m sending them bitcoin,” he laughed.
“International bitcoin payments are instant and there are no bank fees”
One of the many things that Raul likes about bitcoin is that it’s so quick for international payments. In the time that it takes to snap a selfie, his bitcoin gift travels from LA to Monterrey.
“The speed is a game-changer,” explained Raul. “Especially compared to old-school payment methods which could take days. Now, I don’t have to plan ahead or worry about bank holidays.”
But it's not just about bitcoin payments being fast. Raul loves that there are no annoying bank fees eating away at his support. Traditional banks can charge a lot just to move money from one country to another. With bitcoin, Raul keeps more of his gift, which means he can send more love home.
“My family doesn’t need a bank account to receive or use bitcoin”
Raul's family doesn't need a bank account to receive or use the bitcoin he sends. This is huge because not everyone in Mexico has easy access to bank services.
“You only need a bitcoin wallet appGo to /wallets page to receive, spend, or save bitcoin,” Raul said. “In Mexico, you can spend your bitcoin online or in stores. You can also convert it to pesos using an ATM or save it for the future.”
