How Viet uses bitcoin to support his sister’s studies in Taiwan

Viet was born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and now works in Amsterdam as a brand strategist. His sister studies at the National Tsinghua University in Taiwan and his family still lives in Vietnam.

Viet wanted to send his sister a small allowance each month for her daily expenses. However, he quickly encountered challenges. “I couldn't believe that in this day and age, I still needed to go to a physical location, fill out a bunch of forms, verify both of our identities, and pay transaction fees just to send a small allowance to my sister,” he explained.

“If you walk on the streets of Ho Chi Minh City, it's easy to spot stores that accept bitcoin and people that are paying with QR codes,” explained Viet. “That's why I think the concept of a bitcoin voucher, which combines QR code payment with a top-up card interaction, can resonate with me, my family, and many Vietnamese people.”
